Diversity in Organizations
Diversity is important to everything that surrounds us. Most people walk around without truly seeing outside their knowledge base. This can lead to very specific stereotypes and misunderstandings in the workplace. Diversity is defined as the host of individual differences that make people different from and similar to each other (Kinicki & Kreitner, 97). These attitudes and perceptions are manifested in the practices and behaviors of individuals in the organization.
For this assignment, it states that Diversity climate is defined as “organizational members' attitudes and perceptions toward people from cultural groups other than their own”. It is important that an individual feel good in their role at work. When this occurs, it creates a positive environment for the workplace. This will then in turn build relationships between co-workers. The lines of communication are more open and then individuals will have a more relaxed work environment. Even though this may create a relaxed work environment, there still are the rules regulations and expectations for the workers to perform their designated duties and job responsibilities
